Which features make this holster concealable? I thought OWB holsters were only for open carry?
OWB holsters the place the pistol properly on the belt line can be as concealable as an IWB holster. Usually, the Origin can be concealed with an untucked shirt, light jacket, or vest. By keeping the pistol tight and high to your body, the Origin helps you conceal your pistol, even when carried OWB.
- Pistol twist: The Origin subtly twists the grip toward your body, reducing printing.
- Cant angle: The 5 degree cant angle compliments other design features such as the twist and bump to reduce printing.
- Muzzle bump: The small muzzle bump on the inside of the holster helps keep the upper half of the pistol tight the body, reducing printing.
- Carry height: The Origin positions the pistol with the grip above the belt line, providing a full grip. This carry height helps reduce the amount of muzzle hanging down below the belt line, increasing concealability.
- Wide belt loop spacing: The Origin places belt loops on either side of the pistol, helping keep your pistol in close to your body, where it is less noticeable.
How this OWB holster accessible?
OWB is commonly considered the most accessible of the carry methods.
- Undercut grip: We pay attention to details such as making sure you can get a full grip on your pistol before drawing. The undercut grip helps you get your hand high on your pistol by eliminating unneeded material in the critical area where your pistol’s trigger guard meets the grip.
- Ride height: By positioning the grip above the belt line, your pistol is easily accessed.
- Cant angle: When carrying OWB, the pistol is usually placed on or slightly behind the hip, and these positions are usually more accessible when drawn at an angle. The built in 5 degrees of cant angle, along with adjustable right height & cant, allow for you to optimize angle to meet your needs.
- Adjustable retention: Adjust retention with a Phillips screwdriver to ensure you have the right amount of tension on draw.
How do I put on the Origin?
Typically you will put the Origin on by threading your belt through the Origin's two belt loops. Often this is done by “splitting the pants loop”. In other words, you’ll take your belt out of your pant belt loops until about 4 O'clock, thread the rearward Origin loop, thread your pant's loop at 3 O'clock, then your forward Origin loop, then you’ll thread your remaining pant belt loops and secure your belt.
What are my OWB belt attachment options for this holster?
The holster comes with 1.5 inch belt loops. 1.75 inch, and our executive 1.25 inch / 1.5 inch loops are available.
Can I carry the Origin inside the waistband (IWB)?
Yes. The Origin is designed to work with our C-hooks for tuckable IWB carry.
In which positions can I wear this holster?
You will typically place this holster on your strong side hip. Some people prefer a bit forward, and some prefer a bit rear of the hip. Experiment with which position is most comfortable and accessible for you.
Will this holster retain my pistol without the light attached?
No. You can holster your gun without the light attached, but retention will not be as reliable without your light. We build our holsters to retain on the weapon light primarily. This ensures solid retention and reduces weapon your pistol finish.
Will this holster work with a mounted optic (red dot sight)?
This holster comes compatible with a wide range of optics (red dot sight). We design to fit a large optic such as the SRO mounted on a factory mounting position. Aftermarket milled slides may place the optic further forward, and may require trimming of the holster to fit. Don't have an optic? The holster works excellent without it,and you won't need a new holster if you do choose to mount one in the future.
What is a precision-fit holster?
A precision-fit holster is designed to fit a specific model of gun and light combination perfectly. Each holster is formed from production mold (designed in CAD and utlizing 3d scans for precise fitment) and test fitted with the manufacturer's firearm and light. This ensures great retention for secure carry.
How long should I expect this holster to last?
This holster is a robust piece of equipment. It can be washed easily with warm soap and water. With proper care and use, your holster will last a very long time. To maintain optimum form and retention be sure to:
- Avoid excessive heat exposure (stove tops, radiators, dashboards in direct sunlight, dishwashers, etc.)
- Use the correct pistol and light in your holster.
How do I adjust retention?
You can control your retention with dual adjustment screw. Fine-tune for your preferred balance between secure carry and a smooth draw.
