HOLSTER SAFETY INFORMATION

CONSUMER WARNING: READ IMMEDIATELY

All firearms are inherently dangerous and improper handling can lead to serious injury or death. Read and understand this safety notice in its entirety before the purchase, use, or sale of any holster purchased from Werkz LLC.

SAFETY IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY

You, as the owner of a firearm and a Werkz LLC product, are responsible for the safe handling of your firearm. You are responsible for obtaining proper training in the safe handling of firearms. Werkz LLC strongly recommends a regular holster practice regime to ensure the continued safety and capabilities of the handgun and holster. Applicable firearms safety rules include:\

  • Always Keep Firearm Pointed in a Safe direction: Never point your gun at anything you do not intend to shoot. This is particularly important when loading or unloading a firearm, and when holstering or unholstering.
  • Treat All Guns as Though They are Loaded: Only test-fit unloaded pistols in a holster.
  • Keep Your Finger Off the Trigger until You are Ready to Shoot: Ensure your trigger finger is clear of the trigger guard when holstering or unholstering, and ensure foreign objects do not enter the trigger guard area which could cause the handgun to discharge.
  • Always Be Sure of Your Target and What’s Beyond It: Always verify your holster is clear of clothing or debris before holstering your handgun.

YOU MUST VERIFY SUITABILITY

NO WERKZ LLC HOLSTER IS COMPATIBLE WITH AFTERMARKET TRIGGERS OR ANY OTHER TRIGGER MODIFICATION MADE BY THE USER. Broken, worn or poorly manufactured firearms, including firearms that are not of original factory specifications, or have after-market grip adapters, target hammers, extended controls, compensators, suppressors, or other modifications may cause improper holster fit and must be user verified for safety before use. Deviations from the specified firearm’s design as it left the factory  may cause a HANDGUN DISCHARGE.

YOU MUST VERIFY FITMENT

The user must verify proper handgun fit within the holster before use and on an ongoing basis. Werkz LLC also offers holsters or sheaths for knives and magazines. Advisories herein apply to knives and magazines as they would for handguns.

Werkz LLC holsters are precision-fit for specific handgun or handgun & light combinations. Only the specified item(s) are supported. If the holster is made for a handgun with a light, then the specified light is required to be attached when the pistol is holstered. Safety issues result when using a handgun without a light in a light-bearing holster because the handgun will have uncontrolled movement, and this can cause the handgun’s trigger to make contact with objects that could cause an unintended discharge.

NEVER PLACE A HANDGUN IN A HOLSTER WITHOUT FIRST TESTING FOR PROPER FIT. The slightest change in handgun or light design can have a major safety effect on fitment within a Werkz LLC holster. Pistol and light manufacturers often make design updates during production runs which could affect fitment. Although Werkz LLC attempts to provide accurate website and customer service information regarding fitment and suggested use, Werkz LLC does not warrant the accuracy of such information. Failure to properly test fit holster before use may result in unintended discharge.

Verify all of the following with every handgun you intend to use with your holster, IN AN UNLOADED CONDITION, and while keeping the handgun pointed in a safe direction. If holster is light-compatible, properly install light per manufacturer instructions.

  • Handgun and light fit without binding
  • Handgun’s trigger guard is sufficiently covered by the holster
  • Handgun and light release from the holster properly
  • Handgun does not have unacceptable excess movement
  • Handgun controls, especially the magazine release, don’t interfere with the holster
  • Handgun’s sights or red-dot optic clear all features of the holster and do not impede draw
  • Holster meets all other user requirements and is fit for use with the intended handgun

If AT ANY TIME you are having difficulty with fitment, immediately discontinue use and contact Werkz LLC for assistance.

Periodically check the holster and related hardware for proper fit and function. Should any product, including a Werkz LLC product, become worn, loose, broken, defective or ill-fitting CEASE USE IMMEDIATELY and contact the manufacturer.

Light-bearing holsters require a channel through which the light travels, which can cause trigger-guard exposure corresponding to the size of the light. It is the user’s responsibility to ensure that foreign objects do not enter the trigger guard area. These objects could engage the trigger and cause an unintended discharge.

Some manufacturers allow charging of their light using a charge cable or pendant. Certain Werkz LLC holsters have provisions whereby the charger may be inserted into the holster and charge the light while holstered. Unload handgun before using. Safely insert the charger by keeping it outside the trigger guard, and placing in the proper area on the light. Verify that the handgun, light, and charger do not interfere with the holster when drawing. Verify that the charger will not, under any circumstances, come in contact with the trigger. Only use chargers supplied by the original light manufacturer. If the charger interferes with safe unholstering or holstering of the handgun, DO NOT UTILIZE THIS FEATURE.

“DROP-THROUGH” OR “OPEN-BOTTOM” HOLSTERS

Werkz LLC manufactures holsters which have a “drop-through” or “open-bottom” feature. These holsters allow longer slides, threaded barrels, compensators, and other features of the handgun to protrude beyond the end of the holster. Sitting, running, jumping, and other movements may cause the body to push on these protruding features, potentially ejecting the handgun from the holster. Always secure your pistol during vigorous activity.

Verify proper handgun fit before use and on an ongoing basis. Certain accessories, including compensators, may “snag” on the holster, preventing a safe and expedient draw.

Never attempt to reholster a hot handgun, especially if any hot component of the handgun will protrude beyond the holster. This may cause severe burns.

HOLSTER MODIFICATIONS

Never attempt to modify Werkz LLC products in any way. Do not expose holster to excess heat as it will modify the holster’s features. Do not attempt to modify holsters to fit alternate handguns or lights. Do not trim or remove material from the holster. Performing any of these modifications may cause a HANDGUN DISCHARGE.

OTHER WARNINGS

Holsters are not a substitute for a proper firearms safe and do not secure an unattended handgun. Follow safe firearms handling practice and all applicable laws.

NO HOLSTER IS COMPLETELY SNATCH-PROOF OR TAKEAWAY-PROOF. Exercise diligence at all times to prevent handgun takeaway.

Screws and other hardware may loosen over time. Once the user has adjusted retention and attachments to the desired configuration, use threadlocker to reduce the likelihood of loosening. Periodically check tightness of all screws.

Do not attempt to cock the handgun, or rack the slide of the handgun while holstered as this may cause damage the handgun or holster, and may cause an UNINTENDED DISCHARGE.

No product manufactured by Werkz LLC is a toy. Keep away from children. Small parts, such as screws and rubber spacers may be removed and become a choking hazard.
