Werkz is proud to offer what we believe is currently the strongest subcompact pistol light, the Streamlight TLR-7 HL-X Sub. Utilizing the included rechargeable SL-B9 battery, this light is rated at 1,000 lumens and 10,000 candela. Streamlight's switching system is excellent, providing both constant and momentary modes. Further, Streamlight has a well-earned reputation for quality in both duty and every-day-carry markets. We offer this as a premium light for all your subcompact pistol light needs.
Test Results
In our lumen testing, the TLR-7 HL-X Sub provided the following measured results:
![]() |
|
With the SL-B9 battery: 1,143 lumens at 30 seconds With the CR-123A battery: 609 lumens at 30 seconds |
These are excellent results for such a compact light.
Here are the lumen output graphs over time:

For candela, we measured the following:
![]() |
|
With the CR-123A battery: 4,104 candela at 30 seconds With the SL-B9 battery: 8,077 candela at 30 seconds |
While the candela results don't meet claimed values, the results are quite strong.
Bottom Line
If you’re the type of person who’s convinced a weapon light is necessary, then you may as well spend the money to get the right one. In my opinion, there is no reason to opt for a previous generation of the Sub unless you plan to exclusively run non-rechargeable CR123As.
Streamlight continues to push the envelope and meet the demands of those running subcompact pistols. If I were running a slimline pistol, this would be the pistol light I’d choose, with one exception. If you’re running a P365 X-Macro, or another slimline pistol with a standard picatinny rail, then you may want to consider the Sig Sauer Foxtrot2R, or even the Streamlight TLR-7 HL-X, since both of those options have higher candela.
